7 of Blood
7 of Blood
-
- Description
-
The 7 of Blood shows a picture of a Neandertal man sitting and holding a club, looking our to the left of the card, apparently showing something in the distance. His hand is wrapped lightly around the club, using it more as a support than gripping it as a weapon. Here the weapon can be seen more primitively as a tool of violence, but not only as a tool of violence. This club is more like an axe or a machete than a sword or a gun; having other uses than violence. In the background a red sun hangs, likely descending, judging from the color of the sky. The man himself is dressed in a fur that abstractly fills the bottom of the card beneath the club.
- Interpretation
-
I feel this is another card of waiting and patience, but compared to the 9 of Nature yesterday, the man in this card doesn't know what's coming, where the young man with the scythe is waiting for something particular. The Neandertal is as prepared as he can be for what lies over the horizon, and he doesn't seem too caught up in what will come next. Despite his prosaic attitude, though, the card carries an air of menace or threat, as though we the viewer have some knowledge about the tragedy of what's coming that this man doesn't. Perhaps we do, as we know the fate of the Neandertals, driven into extinction by Homo sapien.
- Application
-
Personally this is a hard card to apply, since I believe its very foundation is based on not knowing what's coming next, and in that space to be as prepared as possible. I see an alignment around my job situation, since I'm beginning the process of asking my boss for more hours and responsibilities and pay, and if that's not possible then I will be changing jobs at some point in the coming months. But perhaps this card merely represents the anxious waiting of a man who doesn't know what's coming next, as the next few months hold many surprises in store for me and my family, and the best I can do is hold to the tools I know that serve me well.
